Check a roofing quote
Paste the text of your estimate or contract. We'll list the usual line items we found and didn't find, check it against Colorado's roofing contract rules and your local code, and give you questions to ask.
What the checker looks for
- The usual line items. Tear-off, underlayment, ice and water barrier, drip edge, starter strip, ridge cap, flashing, vents and pipe boots, the permit, cleanup with a magnet sweep, and a price for replacing rotten decking. Not every roof needs every item, so a missing one is a question, not a problem. See how a reroof works.
- Colorado's contract rules. For residential roofing jobs over $1,000, C.R.S. 6-22-103 requires a written contract with the scope, approximate dates and costs, the roofer's full contact information and insurer, a 72-hour cancellation clause, and a statement in bold type that your payments are held in trust until materials arrive or most of the work is done. When insurance pays, the contract must also say the roofer can't pay or waive your deductible (C.R.S. 6-22-105), and tell you about your right to cancel within 72 hours of a claim denial (C.R.S. 6-22-104).
- Local rules we know about. Class 4 shingles in Fort Collins (when half or more of the roof is replaced) and in unincorporated Larimer and Boulder counties, ice barrier rules in Fort Collins and Larimer County, and tear-off rules in Denver and Lakewood, as of October 2026. Confirm with your building department.
This is an automated reading, not legal advice. It can miss or misread things, and it never decides whether a contract is valid. "We didn't find" means we didn't see it in the text you gave us. For a legal question, ask an attorney.
